is a non-profit Organization founded on January 1st, 2006 in Atlanta, Georgia.

ESWO History

On January 24, 2006, the women of Enugu State, residing in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, under the guidance of our founder, Mrs. Queen Agu, convened with the intention of promoting the principles and objectives outlined in the Constitution, thereto set up an organization known as
ENUGU STATE WOMEN ORGANIZATION of GEORGIA, USA (hereinafter known as ESWO).
Present at the meeting were Mrs. Chinyere Chime, Mrs. Ogo Eduzor, Mrs. Augustina Onyeke, Dr. (Mrs.) Ifeoma Aniekwe and Mrs. Grace Ozokwo. The women who attended became the founding members. The location of the first meeting was the stand-alone building located at St Patrick Catholic Church, Nocross, Georgia.

Our vision is to support and empower the women & children of Enugu State origin, championing their welfare, cultural heritage and community development across the continents.

Creative Expression for Healing: Using art, music, writing, and drama as therapeutic tools to express feelings and experiences.

Understanding Your Rights: Information on legal rights, protective orders, and navigating the legal system with the help of legal experts.


Advocacy and Empowerment: Training on how to advocate for oneself in various situations, including legal, healthcare, and housing.

 

Financial Literacy: Basic financial skills, budgeting, saving, and managing money to help achieve financial independence.


Career Planning and Resume Building: Assistance with resume writing, job search strategies, and interview skills. Information about educational opportunities and vocational training.


Entrepreneurship: Guidance on starting a small business, including developing a business plan, marketing, and finding funding.

Physical Health Awareness: Information on physical health, nutrition, and access to healthcare services, including reproductive health.
Mental Health Awareness: Understanding mental health, recognizing signs of depression and anxiety, and accessing mental health services.
Stress Management and Self-Care: Strategies for managing stress and prioritizing self-care, including exercise, healthy eating, and time management.

Personal Safety Planning: Creating personal safety plans for various situations, including home safety and online security.
Technology Safety: Guidance on securing personal information online, safe use of social media, and protection from cyberstalking.

 

Needs Assessment: Conduct surveys or focus groups to tailor the workshops to the specific needs of the participants.
Collaboration with Experts: Partner with legal professionals, psychologists, financial advisors, and other experts to facilitate workshops.
Flexible Scheduling and Childcare: Offer workshops at various times, including weekends and evenings, to accommodate different schedules, and provide childcare options to increase participation.
Follow-up Support: Establish a follow-up system to provide ongoing support and resources to participants after workshop completion.

Community Engagement: Work with local community centers, healthcare providers, churches, and social media to promote the workshops.
Confidentiality and Safety: Ensure all promotional materials and participant communications emphasize confidentiality and safety.
